CUSTOMER NOTICE

Customers have made inquiries to the G & W business office as to whether their personal information could be released to third parties with or without their knowledge. Names, addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, etc. of water utility customers must be disclosed to the public in response to lawful requests under the Texas Public Information Act. An exception to this law is available under the Texas Utilities Code if customers want that information kept private from the general public. To benefit from this exception, customers must present the utility with a written request that their personal information be kept private and not released to the public. Under the Utilities Code, a customer's personal information must still be released to the Public Utility Commission, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and appropriate governmental regulatory bodies.
